Ultrasound Scanners @WT19

During the World Taekwondo Championships we have been using an Ultrasound scanner from MIS Healthcare- Samsung to treat, diagnose and assess the need for admission to the local Emergency Department.

Throughout the week, 98.3% of patients with musculoskeletal related injuries were discharged on scene, with the same treatment they would have received in an Emergency Department. Our Advanced Care Team diagnosed Olympic and World Champions with metacarpal fractures and ligament injuries, as well as looking at healing injuries.  

Via our team of clinicians, physiotherapists, sports therapists and a wide range of other specialities, athletes received immediate treatment as well as the right care they deserve. 

In addition to using the ultrasound on our patients we also took the time to teach staff the use of ultrasound in cardiac arrest and trauma.

We will be using ultrasound more frequently at our events for these reasons.
